The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Yard Work Continues....

Ok, to the untrained eye this picture will look like the post below it....but look closer! We now have Verbena and Vinca along the walk (they will get bigger) as well as a Gumpo Pink Azalea, a Lily Marin Azalea and a Lodense Common Privet shrub by the house. The latter three all bloom in Spring, ensuring some nice color next March/April. Yep, little by little the yard is coming together.

Speaking of of coming together, Chris has been making huge progress on the fence. Nearly all of the 15 panels are assembled and in various stages of being painted. Keep in mind that EVERY SINGLE BIT OF WOOD for these panels needed to be individually measured and cut, then assembled with roughly 40 - 50 screws AND 40 - 50 finishing nails PER PANEL. Needless to say, we're going to have the best fence on the block. Here you can see some of the panels in various stages of drying/waiting to be painted in the basement:
