The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Water Lily

Our little peanut started Tot Swim yesterday! Having grown up in Southern California I was in the water from the time I could toddle. Swimming, water sport camp, surfing, water skiing...if it called for submersion I wanted to do it. As Lily grows up I not only want her to know how to swim for safety reasons, I also want her to be able to enjoy all the aquatic fun to be had when you live in a city surrounded by water. Granted the water is MUCH colder up here, but there are plenty of indoor pools, too.

Her new classes are at the Helene Madison pool. We, along with 9 other 6 month - 3 year olds and their parents, practiced going in a circle and kicking. Actually, it was me going in a circle kicking her legs for her, showing Lil how mommy can blow bubbles (she was thoroughly unimpressed), and generally getting her acclimated to water. Daddy cheered us on and took pictures for prosterity. I'm confident our water Lily will morph into a guppy in no time.
