Mama's Day
I was thinking about Mother's Day on the way to work and what makes mamas so special. They are...
the kissers of boo-boos
the cherishers of small moments others may not notice
the swimming/soccer/softball/baseball/football/gymnastics chearleaders
the combers of tangles and pinners of ballerina buns
the celebrators of milestones big and small
the keepers of memories funny, sad and surprising
the tiers of shoes and the packers of bags bound for college
the teachers of life lessons and the Jiminy Crickets of adolescence
the confidence boosters, the naggers, the braggers, the finders of lost treasures
the science fair chauffeurs and curfew watchdogs
the jugglers, plate-spinners, creators of calm from chaos
the ports in the storm, the consistent rocks, the providers of unconditional love
We are all these things on top of the grown-up tasks, interests and friendships we somehow (and with varying degrees of success) manage to maintain.
Admittedly we aren't always appreciated, but we're also rewarded in amazing ways only mamas can understand, and not just on Mama Day, but all year long.
