The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Miss 2-Tooth Turns 10 Months

Lily is 10 months today!! So hard to believe it was about a year ago that we met Maria for the first time and began the journey to becoming a family. When I think back to that meeting in Pasco I remember how incredibly excited we were, but I never imagined I would be so overwhelmed by my love for this little person. And what a little person she is becoming! Here's the latest...

  • Up, up, up. She's definitely a girl on the go, standing and bouncing every chance she gets. She actually stood on her own, without support, for about 5 seconds the other day! Strangely, if she bumps her head on the way down there are hardly any tears, but if she lands on her behind she wails. I guess she hasn't quite figured out that's the padded end!
  • 2 Teeth! As predicted the first one now has a pal, as proudly displayed here
  • Food! Good thing she has teeth since her repertoire is expanding to include all manner of puffs, crackers, and stage 3 foods. She's even tried Mioposto crust and focaccia and loved it
  • Sharing. Apparently one of the kids in daycare was crying and Lily tried to console them by offering her binky. I am heartbroken to have missed it, but overwhelmed with pride for my generous girl
  • Will. Oh my, she has one. If she can't have something or a toy doesn't cooperate she lets loose with one heck of a holler. It's over as fast as it starts, but you definitely know she's a redhead!
  • Patootie. Every morning that we wake up before Lily we are greeted by her little rump sticking straight in the air. You wouldn't think this would be the optimal position to sleep in, but she seems to enjoy it
  • Clapping. She's figured it out and loves to do it
  • Giggle fits. Lily's sense of humor is definitely growing and is quite infectious. She now has giggle fits, often triggered by the mere sight of Paco, and sometimes for no apparent reason at all
  • Hand to hand. As her dexterity grows, so do her little milestones. She now passes objects back and forth from hand to hand. She still favors her left, but the right's definitely making its abilities know
  • Beating up mom. Sadly smacking, glasses grabbing and hair pulling are also a new favorite. She does understand "no"....but unfortunately this word also triggers the aforementioned giggle fits. A redhead indeed
