The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Bunny Bounce & First Haircuts

Easter has come and gone, and I neglected to post about the Bunny Bounce - bad me! Sadly Easter Sunday was rainy and miserable, so Chris had to set up our egg hunt in living room. The day before, though, we had beautiful sunny skies so we took Lily to the Bunny Bounce at Woodland Park Zoo. They had a special section set up for toddlers....really more of an egg gathering than a hunt...and Lily loved it. She had practiced at school the day before, so as soon as she was set loose she cruised all over putting eggs in her bag, in other kid's bags and baskets, dumping her eggs and starting all over. She was particularly impressed with the egg recycling bin, trying to climb into it after dumping out her bag. She was a tad disappointed she couldn't go in, so to make up for it we took her for her first carousel ride. She had no trouble hanging on VERY tightly and seemed to like it.

This weekend was another first for Lily - her first haircut! Okay, technically not her first as I did a sad job of trimming her bangs in January, but her first by someone who actually knows what they are doing. Chief among the things I love about Seattle are all the great independentally owned businesses, and Beach Comber Kids Cuts is now one of my favorites. Not only do they have a very well-appointed play room to keep the little ones entertained while you wait, they also have fun animals and sea creatures for them to sit on during their haircuts (Lily got the dolphin) as well as cleverly placed TVs and faux fish tanks to keep even the squirrliest of kids occupied. All Lily needed was her bangs trimmed (no way are we lopping off her back curls!), and instead of looking like the infant Bettie Page I inadvertently turned her into, she was transformed back into her adorable pixie self. The hair on the top of her head naturally grows straight and forward so just a few quick snip-snip-snips and voila! Per her usual, she handled it all like a trooper.
