The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Time is a flyin'...

Yikes, I am having a hard time keeping up. Over the last month we've moved int0 the new house (yes, I know I need to post pictures and will soon - promise!), done a fair amount of settling, we've hosted both Chris' parents and my sister, Chris has started the spring softball season, I've been to LA for a week of shooting, and Lily has continued to grow and change. It's been a crazy time for sure.

Lily is more fun by the day...I just wished that it lasted longer as it is going by way, way too fast. Among the new things...
- She's learned the word "mine" and is quite fond of it. At her school they encourage the Pooh Bears to use it to tell other kids what they are playing with rather than just grabbing toys from each other. Makes sense in that setting, but at home Lily seems to thing that pointing and saying "mine" makes something hers...whether it be the remote, my cell phone, power tools, you name it
- Vocab, vocab, vocab....seems like every day there is a new word. From repeating "Ditto-Ditty!" to new animals "what does a donkey/duck/frog say?" to "binky!" to "thank youuuuuu!" she's now surprising us more and more
- Hugs and kisses. This one absolutely kills me. When I'm getting her dressed I will stand her up on her changing table and she'll wrap her arms around me in the best bear-cub hug ever. I'm used to her wrapping an arm around mine when I carry her around or burrowing when she needs a cuddle, but the scrambling up and initiating big hugs just for the heck of it is new and so sweet I can hardly stand it
- Mimicking. She wants to wipe her tray, vacuum, read magazines, pretty much whatever we do. We've gotten her to water the tomato plants pretty successfully...I'm hoping effective dusting will be next
- Dance machine! She's been excited about music for ages, but she's been taking it to a whole new level. Spinning, jumping (both feet off the ground!), arm flailing, rapid-fire feet tapping. She's a maniac
- Running!!! Why walk anywhere when you can run? And why run normally when you can do a run/hop/leg swingy thing?
Toddlerhood rocks.
