The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Look Ma - Hands!!

I am so behind on Lily updates I am a little embarrassed. She is changing so quickly and we are beginning to understand what Tricia from PEPS told us...every 6 weeks you get a new baby.

Our "new baby" has not only discovered her hands, she is now grabbing things! This may seem like a small thing, but to a new parent it is a major triumph. Of course most things she grabs go straight into her mouth for investigation, so we're grateful that her lack of mobility enables us to limit grabs to her bib, binky, burp cloths, toys, etc.

We also experimented with solid food the weekend before last. The course du jour was organic rice cereal and Lil didn't seem too impressed by it. Uncle Tom and Auntie Katie came over to witness it and we all got a good laugh at Lily's wide-eyed expression as she just kinda chomped up and down without really swallowing anything. Our camera pretty much died so the action shots of her with food turned out terribly, but I did get this cutie-patootie pic of her chillin' with her Uncle Tommy T.

Lily has also grown a lot size-wise. At her 2-month check up she was 25%-25%-25% for head size, length and weight percentiles. At 4 months she is now 50%-50%-50%. That's right - our girl is not only growing, she's also remaining remarkably proportionate.

Last but not least, she rolled from her back to her tummy 2 weeks ago! I didn't witness it, but Chris did. I wondered aloud when she would start rolling and Chris said "Oh, she did that this morning...I figured it was bad for her to be face-down so I flipped her back." I said "OH MY GOSH - THAT'S A MILESTONE!!" to which Chris responded "Really?" Dads - God bless 'em.
