The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

I am lame

Updating the blog has been top of mind for the last month and all I can say is YES...I am lame. The past 6 weeks or so has been bedlam - we went to Arizona to visit the Lowe clan, there was a health scare in the family (thankfully all is well now), I was in New York for the ANA and then in LA for a week shooting a T-Mobile spot, Lily was sick for a week, and we're back in the real estate game. Phew!

Highlights: The shoot was a bit of a pain. The director had fabulous aesthetic vision, but that vision didn't always mesh with the business goals of the commercial, which of course resulted in many a tense moment on the set. On the bright side I met Brett Farve. On the downside, I made a complete idiot of myself. I had him write a note to Gloria, and since was being so gracious, I felt I had to compliment him somehow. Of course I know NOTHING about football, so all I could think of was "I really liked you in There's Something About Mary." He gave me a strange look and said "That was 11 years ago" then looked at his friend and said "Ready to leave?" Sad. At least I got this shot of us along with my boss, Halle, and Dan, the CD at Publicis.

Lily had a monstrous cold for about a week, but is back to her giggly self now. Chris summed it up perfectly last night when he said "she gets more fun every day!". She does so many cute things - from trying to feed and pet Paco, to backing up to sit in our laps, bringing us books to read (LOVES Dr Suess' Foot Book, Mr Brown Can Moo and There's A Wocket In My Pocket), waving and saying "hi" everytime she sees us, sitting in her crib in her sleep sack patiently waiting for us in the morning, opening up and saying "ahhhhh" when it's time to brush her teeth, running up to hug Bunny and Kitty....the list goes on and on. We had family portraits taken this past Sunday in the park and will post pics as soon as we get them.

And last but not least....the house. We found a house that would be perfect for us this past weekend. A 1950's brick in Ravenna (Ravenna = Bryant Elementary. Bryant = no need for private elementary school). It had 3 bedrooms on the same floor (a rarity in Seattle), was move-in ready, had a great rec room, etc etc. Of course there were 4 bids on it within the first 3 days of listing so there was no way they would take a contingent offer from us. We've come to the realization we won't be able to buy anything until we sell our house as great places still get snapped up in days and contingent offers aren't even considered. Sooooo.....we're rolling the dice and putting our house up with a rent-back clause in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!
