The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

The unofficial flower girl

Last weekend Lily's wonderful Auntie Mary and Uncle Guillaume got married in their backyard in Capitol Hill. True to their natures, they did it their way and had a Quaker Ring Warming ceremony rather than the usual pomp and circumstance. It was beautiful and casual, with everyone getting a chance to say a few words to the couple. There was no wedding party, but that certainly wasn't going to stop Lily from making her presence known. While greeting everyone, Lily decided to examine the flower bed and declare in her loudest voice "LOOK! A WORM!" and then carefully examine said flower bed. She quickly found what she deemed the perfect flower, which she then decided to present to Mary....while she was trying to get married. Thankfully Lily has an Auntie who not only adores her, but also lives in the moment and now counts this as one of her favorite of the day.
In other Lilikins news she was CRACKING ME UP last night. Since she loves dance so much, I let her stay up to watch So You Think You Can Dance with me. She was admiring a few moves so I asked if she wanted to dance like that someday, to which she replied "No - that is too easy." Later in the show when Billy Bell executed some flips she exclaimed "Holy Cow!" and "That's really cool!" to which Chris replied "I can totally do that." Yeah - sarcasm is lost on a 3-year-old - resulting in her immediately asking him to demonstrate. Her disappointment when he couldn't ensured he won't be making THAT mistake again!
