The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Lily joins the circus

Like any parent, we'd love for a daughter to grow up to be a doctor, scientist, architect or some other profession. That said we've begun to realize that Lily's true calling might just be the circus. At the tulip festival this weekend she practiced her routine with uncle G.

Spring has sprung...FINALLY!!!

It seemed like spring was never going to arrive. The darkness and gloom was refusing to lift, the rain wouldn't stop and to top it all off we had snow on April 1st! Fortunately, it seems spring has finally arrived to the PNW and the sun has finally come out leaving Seattleites squinting upward and asking "What's the bright yellow thing in the sky?"

Manhattanites turn into leafers, the Japanese obsess over cherry blossoms and here in Seattle we have tulips. It's become a Lowe family tradition to pile into the family fun wagon and drive north to the Skagit valley to gaze at acre after acre of vividly colored fields and meticulously arranged gardens. This year Lily brought along aunt Mary and uncle G for a sunny, gorgeous spring outing. The tulips were amazing for both their color and variety. Out particular favorites include the flaming parrot, the fabio, the abba, and the queen of the night. I don't know who names these things but they are amazing to behold.
