The Latest on the Lowes

We started this blog to share the transformation of our 1926 fixer...but with time and the addition of kids it has become my way of documenting two childhoods...the triumphs, moments of hilarity, lessons learned and everything in between.

Family Portraits

As you probably know, we are not portrait people. I think Olan-Mills style family photos are more often than not stiff, contrived, boring and uncomfortable looking. All my favorite pictures of us were taken spur of the moment, while doing the things we love - some without us even noticing. Lily is so beautiful and growing so quickly, and I have been camera-crazy when it comes to documenting her childhood. The downside is that there are very few pictures of all of us. But I loathe portraits. Quite the dilemma.
Thankfully my co-worker Stasi introduced me to the wonderful Georgie Hockett of 25th Avenue Photography. Georgie met us at the park by our house and took literally hundreds of shots of our little family, including what are hands-down the best shots I've ever seen of Lily. We couldn't be happier with them and wanted to share a few favs.
